Tech Will AI-d Fashion Supply Chains
As the gamification of fashion continues, and the lines between real and hyperreal get more blurred, retailers are looking towards AI to solve their biggest problems. Instead of viewing AI as a threat, brands and retailers are identifying a huge opportunity for AI to help them rectify issues with supply chain management. With the ability to train AI models in historical inventory levels and resource management to streamline the supply chain process and reduce waste, several brands and retailers are relying on AI to do the guessing for them.

Your Favourite Soft Drinks Are Going Hard
As young consumers, Gen Z in particular, move away from overly sugary, high calorie drinks, expect a reincarnation of your favourite childhood sodas in alcoholic versions. As sales of RTD’s and hard seltzers continue to rise, companies like PepsiCo, Coca Cola & energy drinks like Monster are identifying a huge opportunity in booze. The sugar and caffeine free drinks will allow young consumers to engage with a product that they are already familiar with and connected to, while giving them a mild alcoholic buzz, stealing a large portion of the market from beer manufacturers.
But as the demand for non-alcoholic beverages continues to grow, is this really a smart move from soda companies? Let us know who you think will win the war - zero-proof manufacturers or hard seltzers and RTD’s.
Microbiome Testing Will Further Personalise Beauty
As consumers seek out more personalised makeup and skincare solutions, microbiome testing is set to be the next big thing in beauty. As diagnostics continue to shape the future of beauty, microbiome testing will allow consumers to examine and understand the bacteria population of their skin (both good and bad) to figure out which products would work best for them and eventually even help reduce wastage.
Watch out for companies like Gallinee that are making microbiome testing more accessible with at-home kits to help users treat skin conditions like eczema, acne and even determine their skin’s biological age, to pre-empt future skin concerns.
Recovery Is The Next Big Thing In Fitness
With post-pandemic fitness reaching new heights and biohacking going more mainstream, fitness brands and companies are encouraging consumers to take their recovery as seriously as their workouts. Expect more apps and trainers to integrate recovery based programs into their offerings to help consumers understand the importance of rest and recuperation to achieve their larger fitness goals.
Watch out for brands like Hyperice that are taking the recovery market by storm with a mission to help the world move better. With a range of recovery-based products ranging from percussion based massage guns to heated massage belts, we expect them to become the Peleton of Recovery. Don’t say we didn’t tell you ;).
Ugly Food Is The Solution To Shortages & Waste
Did you know that most fruits and vegetables don’t actually make it to the supermarket shelves because they don’t look good enough to be there? Yes, you heard that right. In the UK alone, approximately 25% of apples, 20% of onions and close to 15% of potatoes (not to mention other vegetables) are destroyed because they don’t look right. That means if we made it cool to eat ugly vegetables, we could potentially solve the food rationing and shortage issues.
If you’re someone from the food industry perhaps this poses a great business opportunity. Maybe it’s time to package odd shaped vegetables in a cool way so that we can lower the cosmetic standards of supermarkets and save so many perfectly edible fruits and vegetables from being thrown away, and in-turn give so many more people the access to fruits and vegetables.
